Below are examples of the workshops that are offered at Kingsbury Academy.

Focus

An Introduction to Family Support Services in Coventry.

An opportunity to meet with our Welfare Lead, other families and local services that can support you and your family.

An introduction to Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)

Meet our Behaviour Lead and learn more about the positive behaviour support and strategies to support at home.  

Supporting your child’s sensory processing needs.  

An opportunity to learn more about your child’s sensory processing needs and how to support these at home and meet our Sensory Integration Lead and OT.

Using Visuals to support your child’s communication.

A session run by the Communication and Interaction Lead, focused on learning about different visuals to support your child’s communication skills. Including objects, photos, symbols, and signs (AAC)

Developing independence skills.

 

An opportunity to learn about strategies to support your child’s independence when carrying out daily routines.

New starters coffee morning

An opportunity to meet the Leadership Team at Kingsbury Academy, other families and learn about your child’s new setting.

External Agencies/Specialist Workshops

These workshops are run by external agencies such as NHS School Nursing and will be adapted based on pupil needs and feedback from parents. Other workshops include: 

  • Sleep (Cerebra)
  • Continence (School nursing team)
  • Benefits Support (DVLA & PIP)
  • Online Safety (NSPCC)
  • HAF opportunities
