HAF Summer 2024

Students at Kingsbury Academy had an amazing experience discovering how music enhances their Spiritual, Moral, Social, and Cultural development. The session, led by Coventry Music Service in collaboration with our enthusiastic staff, took place over the summer holidays, filling the school with joy and a sense of awe.

The sessions fostered Spiritual development by encouraging students to express their delight and curiosity in creating their own sounds. Reflecting on how music can evoke emotions, "move" us, and create a sense of connection when we imitate each other.

Moral development was nurtured by exploring how music can convey a range of human emotions, such as sadness, joy, and anger, deepening students' understanding of emotional expression.

Social development was promoted through an appreciation of how music serves different roles in various contexts, such as in dance, celebrations, or as a tool for relaxation.

Cultural development was enhanced by giving all learners the chance to listen to and engage with musical traditions from around the world. This included an appreciation of musical expression from different eras and cultures, including local traditions like band music and string instruments.
